On May 23, 2002, after 6 years of serivce as the Senior Province Polemarch, Brother Curtis R. Silvers was tapped by International Grand Polemarch, Howard L. Tutman Jr., to become the 21st Western Province Polemarch.
Curtis R. Silvers, Jr. a 1982 initiate is Western Regional Sales Manager for Gilbert Paper, a division of the Mead West Vaco Corporation of California.
A native of Philadelphia, PA, Silvers earned a bachelors of Arts from the University of Virginia. During his years at the University of Virginia, Silvers was elected Vice President of the Inter Fraternal Council which then governed over 35 college fraternities. Currently he is a Class trustee and member of the Ravenell “Ricky” Keller III Scholarship Board.
Silvers has been an active member of the Western Province for the last 17 years. He has served the Province as the immediate past Senior Province Vice Polemarch, member of the Board of Directors, Chairman of the Chapter Advisors, Nominations and Time and Place Committees. Before becoming a Province officer, Silvers served three consecutive terms as Polemarch of the Long Beach Inglewood South Bay Alumni Chapter. Silvers has been honored several times by the Western Province for his achievements including receiving the Randall C. Bacon Alumni Achievement Award twice as well as recently receiving the James L. Bradford Distinguished Service Award.
In addition to Silvers’ fraternal activities, he is also involved with other civic and community based organizations. He is the immediate past chairman of the board of government of the Los Angeles Urban League Pasadena-Foothill Branch, member of the Los Angeles Urban League board of director, and member of the Altadena and NAACP. His other fraternal affiliations include being a 32nd degree Prince Hall mason and Shriner as well as a member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity.
Silvers is a life member and member of the Million Dollar Club of the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation. He is also the secretary of the Council of Province Polemarchs. Silvers and his wife, currently reside in Altadena, CA.
