2018 WINTER EDITION
Province Polemarch's Message
Greetings Brothers of the Great Western Province,
Welcome to the 2018-19 fraternal year.
As we look forward to the year ahead, one cannot help but be excited. The energy and enthusiastic spirit currently felt throughout the Western Province is infectious. Brothers are coming home to Kappa in record numbers.
We are experiencing a resurgence amongst our undergraduate ranks as we continue to reactivate dormant undergraduate chapters. The Gamma Eta, Iota Sigma, Kappa Psi, Lambda Beta, and Iota Sigma Chapters were reactivated during the 2017-18 fraternal year. Plans are underway to reactivate the Delta Alpha, Iota Iota, and Xi Phi Chapters during the current fraternal year.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the Vallejo-Fairfield (CA) Alumni, Irvine-Anaheim (CA) Alumni, and Lambda Beta Chapters for a fantastic job in hosting the recently completed C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Training Leadership Conference clusters. Both clusters were well attended with outstanding presentations, information exchange, and brotherhood. Congratulations on a job well done, Nupes.
The 14th Annual National Founders’ Day Celebration will take place January 4-6, 2019 in Tampa, Florida. National Founders’ Day Celebrations are like winter conclaves, with Brothers convening from near and far to celebrate the birth of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. I encourage you all to attend. Registration is now open.
In conjunction with National Founders’ Day, there will be a National Undergraduate Summit. Undergraduates from across the country will convene to discuss issues specific to undergraduates, and to develop strategies that will insure the future of Kappa Alpha Psi remains bright and in good hands.
You do not want to miss the 72nd Western Province Council in the beautiful city of San Diego, CA. The brothers of the Delta Epsilon and San Diego (CA). Save the dates of April 3-7, 2019 for what promises to be a Western Province Council that will be second to none. The Doubletree by Hilton – Mission Valley is the host hotel. Stay tuned for additional information.
Finally, registration is now open for the 84th Grand Chapter Meeting in Philadelphia, PA. The dates for the 84th Grand Chapter Meeting are July 20 – August 4, 2019. The City of Philadelphia is looking forward to rolling out the “Krimson & Kreme” carpet in welcoming Kappa Alpha Psi to the “City of Brotherly Love.” I encourage you all to take advantage of early registration rates.
Keep Achievement in the forefront Nupes.
Yours in the Bond,
Gilbert D. “Gil” Brown, III

Palo Alto Alumni Chapter
On Saturday, April 29th, the Palo Alto Alumni Chapter along with Family, Friends and other Fraternities and Sororities celebrated 40 years of Bridging the Gap and Creating a Path to Academic Achievement. During the past 40 years, the Palo Alto Alumni Chapter has awarded in excess of $140K in scholarship funding to graduating high school seniors looking to reach their dreams of obtaining a college education.
Our speaker for the evening was our illustrious Brother Milan Balinton. Brother Balinton delivered a message that celebrated our legacy, and inspired all in attendance to do a little bit more! Notable attendees were Western Province Board Member, Brother Reginald Simmons of Berkeley Alumni, and Fremont Fire Chief, Curtis Jacobson, a member of Phi Bet Sigma. Members of Sigma Gamma Rho, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta and Alpha Kappa Alpha were also in attendance. And of course, Nupes from other Bay Area Chapters!
The food was catered by Anita Bolton and A Successful Event Catering. If you need it done right and to taste good, you need to give her a call.
Understanding that education is the key to ACHIEVEMENT and opportunity, the Palo Alto Alumni Chapter began to focus its efforts on education, by sponsoring programs that support the scholarship program and encourage the peninsula's youth to learn, develop goals and appreciate the value of education. Today the Chapter sponsors programs and events that expose disadvantage youth to a variety of activities which help develop their self-confidence and self-esteem.
The Palo Alto Alumni Chapter focuses on the future by designing programs that fit the needs of the Chapter, the community at large and today's youth. The Chapter continues to encourage men of high ideals to join Kappa. ACHIEVEMENT for the Palo Alto Alumni Chapter will never be sedimentary. Adapting to the changes will realize True ACHIEVEMENT in society and our communities. The Palo Alto Alumni Chapter is dedicated and prepared to face the challenges of tomorrow.
